Finding Balance Through Contrast: Embracing What You Love in Life
Whenever I work with sacred geometry, I enter a meditative state—especially when using watercolours. As I began painting this piece, which will be part of a set of three for my home (and I’m so excited about it!), I found myself reflecting on contrast and the duality of our world.
Life on Earth is full of duality, much like the Yin-Yang symbol. We are not here to be perfect but to find balance within the contrasts we experience daily. These contrasts guide our journey, and it’s essential to contemplate what we ‘like’ and ‘dislike.’
Children understand this from a young age, clearly expressing when they like or dislike something. They are so wise! Yet, as adults, we introduce them to a different concept—what is ‘good’ and what is ‘bad.’
When we judge experiences, ourselves, or others based on ‘good’ and ‘bad,’ we create separation rather than unity. However, when we simply acknowledge our preferences—what we like or dislike—we honour our individuality without imposing our views on others.
For example, I avoid eating dairy. I could say, ‘Dairy is bad because it causes XYZ,’ which imposes a judgment. Or I could say, ‘I don’t like eating dairy because of XYZ,’ which simply expresses my personal preference. See the difference? The first statement makes dairy inherently ‘bad’ for everyone, based on my experience. The second statement keeps neutrality, allowing for personal choice and connection rather than division.
We are divine light beings incarnated in physical form to learn through contrast. Understanding our preferences—our likes and dislikes—is crucial to our happiness and creating a reality that aligns with what we love.
When we surrender control and flow with life, everything becomes easier, more joyful, and more relaxed. But when we cling to control, we rush through life, doing things the ‘right way’ instead of truly enjoying the experience.
So how do we shift our approach? Start by acknowledging what you like and what you don’t. Then, intentionally bring more of what you like into your life. This simple yet powerful shift can transform your reality in ways you never imagined.
Joy is the catalyst for change. And often, we need support in clearing limiting beliefs we’ve inherited from parents, family, and culture. But remember—you are not bound by their beliefs. You can start shaping your own, right now!
I invite you to shift your focus from ‘what’s good’ and ‘what’s bad’ to a more empowering perspective. Make a list of your likes and dislikes, and see how you can start shifting the dislikes. Don’t like how your hair looks? Experiment with a change that excites you. Unhappy with your home? Even small adjustments—like adding plants or rearranging furniture—can bring joy to your space.
And for the things you love? Prioritise them! If you love dancing, dance more—even in your living room. If painting brings you joy, carve out time for it each week.
You, my dear, are the priority in your own life. If you’re not giving yourself at least half an hour a week to do something you truly enjoy—without guilt—then you’re not living to your fullest potential. It’s time to change that!
If you don’t know where to start in your journey, or if you are feeling super stuck and cannot see clearly where to go, I invite you to book a session with me. We can start clearing energetic blockages, karmic contracts, stuck emotions, and so much more... This always helps to bring more joy into your life.
Love and light,
